CEE Animation Workshop: Deadline Extended and First Script Tutors Confirmed

The first edition of the workshop (starting in December 2018) will include the high quality training, masterclasses, production consultancy, meetings and networking. One of the objectives is to give participants an in-depth script mentoring with renowned industry script advisors. Among first tutors who already confirmed their presence at the first edition are two Europe’s leading consultants on script writing Phil Parker and Răzvan Rădulescu.

Screenwriter and creative producer Phil Parker works on five continents and has developed original content in over twenty countries demonstrating there is a global capacity for new concepts. His clients have included Aardman Animation (the Oscar winning Wallace and Gromit – Curse of the Were-Rabbit and multi-award winning The Pearce Sisters), the Mob Film Company (Terry Prachett’s The Hogfather), Foreseesense (Bach in Brazil – 2016, 16 weeks in German Box office), the UK Film Council, Berlin-Brandenburg Medienboard, PRIME Exchange, and Nord Media.  Phil Parker, co-wrote Manou the Swift (2018) and is a co-founder and CEO of BCre8ive, a multiplatform online development company.

Răzvan Rădulescu is one of the leading Romanian novelist and screenwriter whose films marked the international film scene over the past decade. His literary debut The Life and Deeds of Elijah Cazane received the Romanian Writers’ Union prize and the success continued with his novel Theodosius the Small – winning European Prize for Literature. He has also written screenplays for films, among which the award-winning Stuff and Dough (Cristi Puiu), Niki and Flo (Lucian Pintilie), The Paper will be Blue (Radu Muntean) and the internationally acclaimed The Death of Mr. Lazarescu. Along with Melissa De Raaf he co-directed the feature film First of all, Felicia and was the script advisor for 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days by Cristian Mungiu. Rădulescu currently teaches at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.

Both script advisors will work individually or in group sessions with the project teams, helping them to formulate the voice of their story in the best possible way in terms of dramatic structure, genre and story arc. In addition to several one-on-one meetings with project teams during the first two workshops, participants will be invited to have follow-up Skype sessions with script-advisors, to receive feedback on advancement of their project, up to six months after the end of the workshop.

Both Phil and Razvan will agree on one essential part of filmmaking – writing a great script. In times when all the focus of the producers is on struggling to find money, we want the whole creative team to learn to concentrate on what’s most important, a good story. Phil has been with us as script advisor since several years at the Visegrad Animation Forum, always receiving the best feedback from participants for his advice. Razvan was invited to join us by Matthieu Darras, based on their long-lasting collaboration on different top European platforms for script development. We are most excited for having such renowned professionals as script-advisors and through Phil from the Anglo-Saxon part of Europe and Razvan from Eastern Europe, we can offer our participants different approaches to script development.” explains Juraj Krasnohorsky, one of the organizers of the CEE Animation Workshop.

The call for the CEE ANIMATION WORKSHOP is open for producers and creative teams (with their animated or hybrid project of all lengths and types – shorts, features, series, documentary&fiction, also hybrid projects with a considerable amount of animation) and film professionals without project (studios, freelance, public institutions, distributors, broadcasters etc.).
